Biography of Biff Byford - The Frontman of British Heavy Metal Band Saxon
Biff Byford is best known as the frontman of the British heavy metal band, Saxon.
He started his music career in the 1970s as the vocalist for the band Blue Condition. However, it was in 1976 that he formed the band Son of a Bitch, along with guitarists Graham Oliver and Paul Quinn, bassist Steve Dawson, and drummer David Ward.
Soon after, Peter Gill replaced Ward as the drummer and the band changed its name to Saxon.
Saxon signed a contract with the French label Carere Records, specializing in disco music, and released their self-titled debut album in 1979.
This album propelled them to become one of the leaders of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Saxon achieved commercial success, with eight of their albums and five singles entering the top 40 of the British album and singles cha
